christmas pudding bliss balls

The holidays can be overwhelming with all the sugary treats and desserts. I know it's a special time of year, and everyone is happy to celebrate with traditional favorites, but there's no reason why one cannot have the same nostalgic flavors but upgraded to include healthier ingredients and without the refined sugar. These #BlissBalls which are naturally sweetened with dried fruit and maple syrup.

ingredients

1/4 cup shredded coconut

1/2 cup rolled oats or almonds

1 cup raw walnuts

1/2 cup raw cashews

1/4 cup dried mission figs

1/4 cup golden raisins

1/4 cup currants

2 Tbsp flax or chia seeds

2 Tbsp molasses

2 Tbsp pure maple syrup

1 Tbsp sweet vermouth, sherry or brandy

method

In a food processor, process the coconut into a fine powder. Transfer into a small bowl and set aside. Next, process the oats into a fine powder. Then add the remaining ingredients and pulse a few times until the ingredients break down and are combined. The mixture should hold together when pinched. If it's too dry, add another tablespoon of syrup or water. If it's too wet, then a couple Tablespoons of either oats or nuts. Form into balls and then roll each ball in the shredded coconut to coat. Freeze or refrigerated for at least 20 minutes until ready to eat.
