How To Wash Your Produce

One of the best ways to stay healthy is by eating the rainbow and, like washing your hands, always wash your produce, even the ones with peels that you don't eat.

I soak my fruits and veggies in a large bowl of water with about 2 tablespoons of baking soda for 15 minutes, and scrub the fruits and vegetable skins that you do eat. Baking soda is also known to have antiseptic properties and removes some pesticides found in produce.

Always make sure your clean produce is completely dry before storing. Delicate fruits like berries and figs should only be washed just before you eat them. And never soak mushrooms because they're like little sponges and will absorb the water and will be soggy even when cooked.
